Treasure hunters often find themselves in a dilemma, asking themselves questions such as, "Should I help fight against new legislation that threatens my hobby? Some laws seem to protect legitimate historical sites for future generations. Should I support that law and further cut down on treasure hunting areas? How do I find a balance?"

Members of the Central Florida Metal Detecting Club (CFMDQ) have made it their business to strike that balance. The official purpose of CFMDC is to "further the enjoyment of using our metal detectors and the preservation of historical artifacts of Florida." (Article IV - Central Florida Metal Detecting Club Constitution and By-Laws)
