Fog thicker than soup pressed against Bill as he swung his detector along the lake's edge. He didn't really need a lot of sunlight, all he needed was a good signal and enough light to see the coin when it popped from the sand.
He couldn't see Terry, though he knew he was only a few feet away. Then he heard him shout, "Hey Bill, I have a Cowboy Quarter!"
The words had no more than floated through the fog when his own detector fired off. Seconds later he shouted his own announcement, "I have a Merc."
