Our Mojave Desert country has long been known as Californias Treasure Box: And not without reason, for the region abounds in precious ores, minerals, rare earths, and for the rockhounds, semi-precious stones.

Although gold, silver, lead and copper were being mined in various surrounding areas before 1895, it was not until that year that three men named Burcham, Singleton and Mooers accidentally discovered the fabulous Yellow Aster Mine high in the Rand Hills of eastern Kern County.
