About two miles north of Seneca, in northeast Kansas, along the east bank of the old Nemaha River channel, there may be a fortune in buried treasure.

Over 100 years ago, two young Argonauts, returning to their home in Massachusetts, supposedly buried a powder can full of gold for safe-keeping while they went into the small town of Richmond, Kansas Territory, for supplies. But before they could dig up their fortune and continue their journey, one was killed in a fight with two ruffians. The other fled for his life and never returned.
