4" nugget finder
thought i was the only one swinging a bounty hunter. the 4" nugget coil is water proof. i use it here in ohio and on the beaches in myrtle in murrell's inlet. besure to rinse salt water off when leaving the beach to prevent corrosion of the stick.
i use a discovery 1100, began detecting in feb. still finding the in's and out's of this great hobby/pasttime/sport that is so addicting and messmerizing. good luck. mike

Yes it is.
About the only
Yes it is.
About the only manufacture that does not make all their coils waterproof is Minelab. Why I do not know! Maybe the new owner will rectify that problem.

I too own a Discovery 1100. Picked it up on Craigslist for $60.00. It seems to work perfectly and I was able to download a manual from the 'net.
I have ended up setting the sensitivity gauge for nothing but the silver/copper setting. When I scan with it and pinpoint the target, I then check perpendicularly to zero in on the target. If I get a hit in both directions, it is almost always a coin. I have had this detector for about a month now. The only issue I battle with is when I get a signal in only one direction and only when I scan moving to the left...or to the right. Sometimes it is in fact a coin but I have to dig up a larger area to find it. Sometimes after I dig in, the signal just disappears. I double check the pile I've dug up and nothing. That's somewhat irritating...lol. Can the angle that the coin is buried affect how and if I get a signal? Downside for setting my sensitivity so high is that I may be passing right by a gold object. At least that is what the manual states. Has anyone found this to be true? I tested it on my wedding ring and it did seem to pick it up.
In my month of detecting, usually Saturday mornings for an hour or two, I have found a few dollars in miscellaneous coins, copper tubing, and a piece of a zinc ingot. Yesterday, I finally found my first silver coin and new it instantly when I found it...those silver coins sure stay shiny in the dirt! '64 Roosevelt...not greatly old...but still very neat!
Happy Hunting!
