Can't gel with F5
I set up same as Cliff every time I use my F5. I prefer tone 3, which details silver from iron very well. I like to run with my discrimination pretty low and just listen to the tones. The iron is a low tone and the coins come in at a high pitch. I can tell you this, the more you use it, you will be faster at finding treasures. You will know that when it says 59 or 60 you will dig a zinc penny or dime and when it says 43, it is a drink tab, and depending on the size of the gold ring, it will range in the high 20's to 50. Nails and screws are 10 and below. Nickels are exactly 30. A 29 will be the old drink tabs. When coinshooting, I like to run the Threshold around -3 to help keep out the smaller objects (the more positive you run the Threshold it will pick up junk and false signals). If I want super sensitive, I run the Threshold up until it start humming. It detects pin heads and smaller then. The higher the Gain, the deeper it seems to look. That depends on how deep I want to dig today. I said enough to get you going for now. Happy hunting!!
Hey Pops:
Once you turn on and set ground balance you might want to set tones to #3 or 4. The factory setting is 2, 3 or 4 is alot better. Set as much gain as area will allow. I set my Threshold around 5. Check your ground phase every now and then , if it needs touch up just hit the phase lock button. Put a dime or quarter on the ground and check the different tones, it makes a difference. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, when it warms up I'll try those ideas and see how it works for me.
