cz-21 vs minelab sov
Dont know if this will help but I remember seeing someone use an intertube and make a bottom out of some material and get an extra length of cable that screws into the housing from the coil. Attach the two together and place the housing in the intertube and you can take the detector into the water with you . You will need the extension rod so the detector can be used like a hipmount.. Maybe wrap the box in some plastic to make sure it dosent get wet. Just another way to get a machine out in the water.
I have a CZ-21. Haven't used it very much but it is very sensitive. To the point that when I change from my right hand side to left hand side, I have to also change my goodie bag to the other side or else I will get falsing.I would never use a non waterproof detector in salt water, especially in the ocean. I have seen very calm waters along the gulf coast but that is about it. Too easy to slip or stumble and lose a very good detector. There is no cure for salt water immersion for any electronic device. When you go to the beach, look down the coastline and note the haze you see. That haze is superfine salt water droplets caused by the wind and wave action. All that haze will settle on your control box and will work it's way into any opening in the enclosure. Want proof? Check your glasses when you come in off the beach.Be sure to rinse off your detector with fresh water each day. Don't leave the salt residue on the surfaces. Hose it off, hold it under a faucet or take it in the shower with you.Another quick word of advise for any detector you take out in the surf. Be sure to separate the two portions of the shaft that are adjustable, every time you take it out. Sand will work into the small space between the two pieces of tubing and seize it up as though it were welded. Don't try any kind of lubricant as it will only attract more sand particles.

haven't used either on the beach but have used the cz-5 and sovereign on land. if you ever do any old coin hunting on land i believe the sovereign will get lots of coins that the others have missed and that would be other reason to go with the sovereign. good luck
