Rent

I think you should rent each model you are interested in and see for yourself which one you like. I live on the coast of South Texas. A friend let me use his Excal 2 while he used my Dual Field and the very first find I made with his Excal was a 14k mother days ring with 3 different stones. When we exchanged detectors at the end of the day he had a hard time prying the Excal from my hands.

Re;Excalibur

I've got both units and found the Ex good for trashy areas, being a VLF machine, but  for depth the Sea Hunter (PI) wins hands down. It depends on the waters  and beaches you hunt. If there's a way, see if you can find a friend with an Excal for a trial. Also if it's possible, keep both .  I'm in Wa, and use mine mostly along Puget Sound and along the WA and OR coasts. Sea Hunter for less populated areas and  the Excalibur for more popular beaches.  Hope this helps.Norm
