don't see anybody talking about the Explorer SE Pro. I bought
one in March and had great success with it, two gold rings, one stirling silver ring and some cheap ones and alot of coins and lots of junk. took sometime to get use to the Explorer then it all came together. Great machine

Mankato MN

Tim, I was searching for a old friend of mine - Stacey Gravatt - that I used to hang out with in Mankato. He used to live near the Mankato State upper campus and played guitar for a few bands. Any chance this is the same Stacey?

Sorry, wrong Mark Postma

Hi,I am in Northern Michigan. Never been to Mankato. There are at last count 7 of us.  Some guy, you can guess his name, out in Portland Oregon made a hobby out of searching out all of us.I was looking to see if I still had his list, but haven't located it yet.If I find it I will pass it along, maybe you could connect with the right Postma.Good Luck,A Different Mark Postma

I agree, the Explorer SE Pro

I agree, the Explorer SE Pro is an excellent machine. You have to be willing and able to make adjustments to the settings though. The new ones are coming with a factory preset gain of 8. This is too high for any type of soil with mineralization or junk like rusted roofing tin scraps(someting you find alot of around the depression era homesteads). I was chasing my tail for the first several outings then I dropped the gain to 6 and now I can hear the difference between a good signal and trash. Even a good signal at depth is far different than a mineralization signal. Sensitivity is also very important as this machine can get very deep. I found a 1" dia x 4" long galvanized pipe at 22" down with sensitivity at 18. And I also found a wheat penny at 6" with the sensitivity at 10. So, if you are hunting a park, you can turn your sensitivity down to say 12 or even 8 to get rid of signals that are unwanted and concentrate on the items that you will actually want to dig. Likely you aren't going to want to dig a 2' hole in a park anyway. When you get out to a wide open area where you can dig deeper without problems, you can turn your sensitivity up to say 25 or more and turn your gain down to about 4. This will turn down the volume of tiny items or trash and give a more definate response to larger items and ones that are closer to your prefered dig range. This will also give a better ID of the target. Just my $.02.

there is definitly a big differance between my Garrett gti2500
and the Explorer..
the DD coil takes time to get use to,I have gotten pretty good
with it now..(pinpointing)that is.
really like the smart screen and the digital screen switching
from one to the other using both is a plus when it comes to
digging an iffy signalgreat machine

Explorer SE Pro

I bought an Etrac this summer. It was a real toss up for me to choose the Explorer or the Etrac as an upgrade to my old Quattro.

All of the higher end Minelab machines are great in my book!

I opted for the E-trac on advise from the dealer I get my machines and accessories from. I really like this new machine!

As you know it is not a matter of breaking in the machine, but of breaking in the operator!

Best of Luck!
Mark
