White's MXT is probably gunna

White's MXT is probably gunna be the best choice, been finding out from alot of guys the MXT has the best ground tracking out of all the metal detectors, best for detector for gold and meteorites. i highly recomend the MXT own it my self and the very first time i used it i found my oldest coin, depth and VDI was acurate with how deep it was in the ground and in a trashy area.

IDX Pro

I used the IDX for almost 7 years, then I upgraded to an M6,just about the same but it is a lot smother running and better depth,
befor the IDX I used an XLT it was a good machine but it has been pulled from the whites line and no longer being made along with the prisum line except the P-5, Oh! while I am thinking of it
with my M6 I have been finding barber and merc dimes at 8 and 9" ,
the MXT has a prospecting mode, but if you are not going to do that
the M6 will do the same thing as the MXT for $100 less,

Which Detector...

I bought my first detector in 1994. It was/is an XLT. I have fell in love with this machine. I use a Bigfoot coil and found a lot of programs for the XLT online. I do have an ACE 250 for a back up, but have also never had used it. Whites service is top notch too. Best of luck.

feedback

Hi, I owned a xlt for about 5 years then I upgraded to a dfx. The xlt and the dfx are both outstanding detectors that i have found everything that you can imagine with. The xlt is well worth the money but, if you can swing the extra, I suggest going for the dfx. Hope this helps Matt

New Metal Detector

Why would you want a new/better? Detector? Metal Detector's are like golf clubes........just because you pay mega bucks for any Metal Detector....does not MEAN It's better? It's NOT ! Learn to use a lightweight under 3 pounds Detector (any Make) lEARN PROPER "dig" METHODS....Proper dig-ing tool and you'll Find 2 to 4 times MORE THAN YOU DO NOW ! Detectors mean NOTHING ! The Person That Digs The Most Always FINDS The MOST ! Guaranteed. I've Metal Detected for over 50 years..used every make/model ever Mfgh. I use now a Bounty Hunter Elite $139. at Big 5 Sporting Goods store..retail price and a Garrett 150 Bottom of the line from Kelly-Co in Florida also under $150. and I could use ANY Detector at any Price ! But why would I....try different size loops to get more depth or sensitivity ! Thanks. Norm. "Indy" Stiles, writer, author, publisher and Metal Detector User Most every day since 1950's....see May 2008 article by me in L.T. Magazine, front page and pages 32-33, "Money Tree" You should FIND a coin every minute or 2....every day...if not? Your/you need training help..not a New Detector?....

I have used the XLT for about

I have used the XLT for about 7 or 8 years and it is a great machine. Upgraded from a bounty hunter after a lot of research and homework. Can't go wrong wit it, easy to use right out of the box with the preset programs, yet there is a ton of adjustments and programs that you can add as you progress with the machine. Hunted in all types of soils and sand, never had an issue. Would highly recommend the XLT

New detector

I've never used a Whites so I can't comment on them. I have used the Teknetics T2 for the last two years and love it. The depth is great, pinpoint is dead on and the target ID numbers are very reliable. The coil is an 11" DD eliptical and covers a lot of ground with each sweep.

One of the best features on the machine is the ergonomics. It weighs a little over 3 lbs but the balance is perfect. I can hunt all day with no fatigue. The battery housing under the cuff offsets the weight of the coil.

If you are willing to look at brands other than Whites I highly recommend the T2.

Hope this Helps

I see you like a white's detector. They are extremely good units. Of all the ones you listed the XLT is by far better I beleive. I used an XLT for years and really did great with it. What I like about the Whites is that if it tells you an item is something, on most cases it was dead on. The XLT can be run really hot and can get great deapth, and you can buy accessories that will help get the depth of most other detectors. Whites also seem to be better around the beach (alittle more stable than other detectors) I am not putting down other detectors, as I have 5 different brands and have a total of 15 machines at any given time. I use a minelab SE mainly, but I sometimes miss the smothness of the whites. Everyone has their favorite, and yours seems to be the whites, and good on you. I hope I have helped, and answered your question. I have had a IDS and MXT units but prefered the XLT. The DFX is also a great unit if you want to spend the money or the New Vector, it has had high remarks from our club members. If you get a chance check out our site at www.treasuresearching.com Best regards.

Check out the Teknetics Omega

Check out the Teknetics Omega 8000. With the 11" DD coil it is awesome. Same depth as standard T2 and F75 for all practical uses. Read this http://detectorstuff.com/2009/06/22/teknetics-omega-review-and-11-dd-coi...

Detector 2010

Look at a Fisher Detector , We have a couple of members in our club in South Carolina and they use the Fisher F- 70 or F-75. They kick butt and we have terrible mineralized soil. I use a Minelab ( Excaliber ) or Minelab ( X S Pro ) and it a Good Detector--goldnugget-Charlotte,N.C.Coins from the Beach in November- check some Beach pics under Beaches
