New Show on Discovery Channel looking for important relics, artifacts and found folklore
NEW DISCOVERY SERIES LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO POSSESS IMPORTANT HISTORICAL ARTIFACTS OR RELICS
Have you discovered objects or finds with possible archeological or historical importance? We want to hear from you!
We are seeking individuals across the country to share their stories with an academic archaeologist and anthropologist in a new non-fiction television series. These scholars, both professors at major universities, will help participants and viewers better understand the cultural, scientific and historical significance of these discoveries. Please note that this show is about archaeological and anthropological science, hence we are not interested in talking to individuals who have obtained artifacts illegally or those who have been involved in the intentional looting or destruction of archaeological sites.
We would also like to hear from members of the scientific community who have recently made interesting and unusual finds. Please visit our websitehttp://archaeologyshow.wordpress.com/ for more information on the show and to download our quick and easy application form. We would be very appreciative if you could circulate this information through your members/contacts, post it in your newsletters, blogs, mailing lists or bulletin boards, and suggest people we could speak to from your own circle.
Thank you very much. We look forward to hearing from you!

I agree with you guys. however, they have published most of their finds. also, discovery channel is obviously running out of ideas to make money on. not many people besides us care about the relics: theyd wach to see what the object is worth. dont blame the archeologists. they respect the find, and probably want to keep them in private hands.
No what they are hoping is some of us out here will actually call them with our find. An then what they will do is say we are robbing some site for the pieces , confencate them and we will never see them again. Even if I had some awsome 500 or 1000 year ole finds I sures heck would not tell them...
sorry for posting 3 times computer acting strainge tonight
let me guess if you have a "Historical" peace that you found someone somewhere will say that you are robbing our children of there history or you stole it or and have a judge issue a warrant for your arrest, then the IRS will get involved and tax you for it and fine you for not reporting it and all you wanted to do is brag about finding it.

good point
More and more areas are/have been shut-off to detecting. "Historical" Landmarks, sites, parks, areas and society's already have all the stuff your looking for buried beneath their "Iron-Curtain" grounds... Get permission to detect all of the "Protected" sites..I'm sure you'll find all you need and more....History COULD easily re-surface and become available from these sites but instead,it will ALL ROT because Detecting{real-world-hands-on Archeoligy by the average citizen} is Not allowed....."We" might spend our money and time and find something "They" want...For free!
All these archeologists want to know is the location of your finds so they can try to get that area put "off Limits" too.......tell them to go find their own artifacts........You got to be kidding me right ????? With all the archeologists in the world and all the world class historical and archeological significant things they have at their disposal, you need the little metal detectorist to show the world his finds ?????

Good Day:I have a Colt double action pistol recovered from the USS Maine that was blown up February 15, 1898. The USS Maine had 148 Colts in its armory that she was outfitted with. I have one that came from her during salvage. It is serial number 5773, with USN, anchor, trident, NCT 16 380, assembly number 390 (all matching). It is the third one manufactured after the one presented to Theodore Roosevelt. I purchased the gun at a garage sale in Casper, Wyoming from Alexander Campbell King who's grandfather Alexander Campbell King was born on February 15th, 1889. The gun was a gift to the grandfather commemorating his birth, the same day the USS Maine exploded in Havana Harbor ushering in the Spanish American War. He was not sure about its origin other than an uncle had aquired the pistol. Alexander Campbell King signed a note for me stating that "This Colt .38 belonged to my grandfather who grew up in Darlington S.C. It was on the battleship "Maine" which was sunk in the Spanish American war in 1898" signed: "Alexander Campbell King".I have researched the King family genealogy and it all fits together. The uncle was Lieutenant Campbell King b: 1871 and he was stationed in Cuba with the 1st Infantry Division and the headquarters there. 1st Lieutenant Campbell King later in life went on to be recognized:The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Campbell King, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility during World War I. General King served with distinction as Chief of Staff of the 1st Division in the operations near Montdidier, the advance south of Soissons, and in the attack on the St. Mihiel salient. Later, as Chief of Staff of the 3d Army Corps during the Meuse-Argonne operation, by his splendid tactical judgment he rendered especially meritorious service.Note: Authentic relics from the USS Maine are very rare and impossible to confirm. I have more information if you like.Sincerely,Robert Larson
