North Carolina Gold Prospecting.
Anyone had luck finding gold in North Carolina? Live in the Charlotte area not far from the original gold rush. Live in an area that had several gold mines in the 1800's. Wondering what would be the best way to search for the gold. HAve stream on property, but have been told by old-timers in the area that when the fields were plowed that gold nuggets would come to the surface sometimes...
I also live in Charlotte, but haven't been to a Stream in along time. It can get pretty Humid in the stream. I pass a stream daily and know someone used to pan it all the time. I need to take my sluice and shovel and give it a try -- gosports1

well you probly are new to this prospecting thing, so id get ahold of someone that has been at it for awhile to show you how its done and what kind of equipment that would be best for your particular situation. knowing how is very important. a good metal detector would work fine for the feilds, but a dredge would be super in your stream. for the stream, look for any round water washed(rounded)rocks or better yet look for any exposed bedrock close to the surface. then for the most part ,learn to read the stream for the places that gold would be more likely to concentrate during flood conditions.and work the heck out those locations! good luck and post your finds here!

I have dredged and detected gold in several places in Cabbarus County over the last 10 yrs. Have lots of info. on mines and geo. reports of the area. You can cotact me at docricenburg
gmail [dot] com and we can chat about your location and the type of gold that may be found at your spot . A lot of the mines in Charlotte were load Mines.
