SeaHunter Volume

Does anyone have an idea as to attenuating the  headphone volume of the headphones short of wearing earplugs before donning the headset when not diving?    There's no control, and when using this unit for beach hunting the target alerts will bring tears to your eyes and I'm half deaf already.
