SEF on T2
I finally got the 15 X 12 SEF for my T2. I've had it out a few times and thought I'd give my initial observations. First of all it is BIG! You can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. The weight could be a factor for extended searching. It changes the balance on the T2 and my arm got tired after a couple of hours.
The target ID is the same as the stock coil but the depth reading is off and can't be relied on.
Pinpointing is a challenge right now but the more I use it the better I'm getting. One issue of the pinpointing is because of the size there may be several targets under it.
My first test area was an old church where I had found 63 coins with the stock coil. I found an additional 4 coins with the SEF but each were shallow enogh to be detected with the stock coil. I think the extra ground coverage helped here.
The next area was a large soccer field. There was very little trash and the area was covered quickly. Most targets were found under 6 inches and were pointed pretty easy. I had two signals that showed 7 inches but after 10 to 12 inches I still had not found them. I'll go back with a longer digging tool and see what they are.
I'll post more as I become more proficient with it.
My DD pinpoints pretty good when I finally found the sweet spot. It is the manufacturing mark right in front of the lower rod attachment. I painted the spot white to make it easier to see.
I've just about talked myself into the SEF coil. I'll let you know how it works for me. I definately have to get the 5" for the trashy areas.
Yeppers pops, strictly on a T2, I bought after talking with engineers and researched a few articles on the sniper coil. I was having some trouble pinpointing with the DD coil switch it with the 5 incher and it was like Turkey shoot and the place I was detecting never touched until I got there. A private park right next to Lake Huron. Enjoy the coil if you buy it, good investment for the T2. ....
I hunt some really trashy areas at times and probably should get the sniper coil. You did really well with it and the depth appears amazing for a small coil. Were you using the sniper coil an a T2?
Haven't tried the larger coils, but have used the 5 inch sniper coil and I was amazed at it's accuracy in pin pointing. It seemed I was digging every 3 feet and within a 45 minutes I had dug up a whopping $1.89 in clads with a few Wheaties. All of these clads were found in a 4 ft by 20 ft section from 2 inches to 14 inches down. Best money ever spent on a coil.

I have to say I'm not impressed with the 15x12 SEF coil. I haven't noticed any depth change. The pinpointing is a general area at best and in trashy areas it is basically unusable. I cannot ground balance with it and have to manually GB my unit. The weight is terrible on the T2 and becomes tiring fast. The thing this coil does is cover alot of ground. In an open area with little trash the size of the coil would be an advantage. Relic hunting open areas would suit this coil well but coinshooting parks, schools and old houses it doesn't perform that well.
