Solar Powered Metal Detector

A few months ago I found this great product on the Internet for making solar panels and even a wind turbine. I bought it with the intention of cutting my electric costs especially my air conditioning costs in the summer and saving on resources.

The instructions and videos were so easy to understand that I started thinking of other uses, so, I built a solar cell device that I attached to my metal detector connections and it keeps an accurate 12 volts! I figure I am usually out in the sun for hours on end so why not give it a try. I also put together more cells to charge my metal detector battery pack and it works great as well.

I don't know if anyone has ever thought of doing it before, but I am sure having a lot of fun with it. One of my metal detecting partners has a 25 year old Whites Coinmaster which sucks batteries badly so he gets envious when he has to get more "C" batteries out of his truck and I just keep on going like the energizer bunny. :)
