I am new to metal detecting and I purchased an ACE 250 two weeks ago. I went three times since then to a fair grounds. The first day was used to getting acquainted with the ACE 250 by pulling up pop tabs, light bulbs, foil, aluminum pop tops, cans, and a few pieces of copper. I found 1.73 in clad. The next day i minimized rubbish and focused solely on coin shooting. I found more clad, $1.98, a ring of unknown metal (likely brass) under an old oak tree. On day three within 20 minutes searching the area from day one i found an 1908 D Barber dime about 5 inches down on 6 bars sensitivity. This is what i came for and haven't felt like that since my first Geode. I didn't care what condition or what kind of coin it was because all i wanted to find was a coin not readily found in circulation. I couldn't beleive my eyes, i even had to stop and call the wife to let her know that it would be a couple of more hours before i was ready to quit. As soon as the ACE gets paid off, i will surely be looking for more serious equipment. Until then, the ACE is the place for a metal detecting man. Thanks for letting me share my story.
I have added a photo of the dime. It is still has some dirt from when i dug it up. Added 19Aug10.

That's good

That's good hunting and a great find. Learn to max your machine to get the most depth. Use as much sensitivity as you can, go slower and overlap your coil. You will find more at that site.
