Has anyone here owned or used a Dual Field for any length of time that can tell me about this unit. Thanks, Cliff

dual field

Don't own one myself (I'm still using the PI Pro) but a many members of my local TH club do own the dual field and I can pass along what I've been told:  It is an improvement over the PI Pro in that the pulse timing can be adjusted (like the  TDI but to a lesser degree)  "tuning" it in for that elusive small gold better.  It is extremely sensitive and will definitely pick up targets deeper than you want to dig.  Everything I have heard is positive with one exception:  That dual coil is much heavier than the coils for the earlier PI Pro, and swinging it all day can definitely tire you out.  I've noticed that some comments to your original query spoke of machines with the lights and I think they are making reference to the beach hunter ID.  I've only seen a few of them - never used one - but you should know the beach hunter ID is a VLF machine, not a pulse induction machine.  The advantage is that you get much better target identification (although less than with a meter or screen display) but the disadvantage is that the VLF machine does not punch through salt sand or ferrous soil like the pulse machine.  A different animal altogether.

Hunting the South Texas Gulf Coast

Hi Robbi: I am hunting the beaches of Corpus Christi, Rockport and Port Aransas, North Padre Island, Tx.  I wish I could take a trip to the east coast to hunt, you guys have many more visitors than we do, like10 to 1.  On the gulf coast we have very deep sand and have not had a Northeasterner for quite a few years and the sand just keeps building here. I'll bet we have rings as deep as 5' to 8' deep. If we ever have a storm that will strip a few feet of this sand away I might be in "Hog Heaven".Cliff

way to go cliff

Hey buddy way to go. Beginners luck is usually the best there is. Hope you find lots more. If you are ever in Cherry Grove , SC look me up and we will hit the beach. Usally in the fall after the tourist leave is best. Hopefully they will leave some of the valuables behind. Where are you hunting if I may ask?
Take care and happy hunting

Finally got me a new Dual Field

On the very first hunt in the water I found lots of deep coins and 2 rings, one being a gold class ring from Baton Rouge "1963" and it was plenty deep. Cliff

Cliff,They work great together. The outer coil locates and then the inner pin points to a degree. After I locat the small area the target is in I dig. when I know I have it up out of the hole I usally just take my hand held garret pin pointer to really narrow the spot down. I am sorry I am not alot of help. I know I am kinda of new but this thing is awesome . Nothing and I mean nothing gets by me. money watches bobby pins fish hooks. Its hard to tell the difference between gold and iron but there is a difference. but if you dont dig them all you will miss out on something. I have been thinking of buying another one with the display but I'm not sure yet. I think I am going into the woods this weekend to try and find some treasure. I always carry my digger with me. (my 10yr old) she likes to dig. I wish I could help you more. If you are ever this way take mine and give it a try.  The surf pro isn't cheap so make sure you get what you want. I know the guys and Kelly co are the best and will be glad to talk to you.take care and happy hunting!

2 coil set up

Hi Robbi: How does the inner coil and outer coil work together. Does the outer coil find deep target's and how does the inner coil find the target at same depth. How is pin pointing.

Cliff,I own one and let me tell you that living at the beach its a godsend. It does have it down side as well. It will find a bobby pin 3ft down if you let it. The only thing I dont like about it is it don't have the option of taking off the headset or like a lot of models the id screen. But for finding stuff in sandy, salty and moisture abound its the best.. It works well in other soils as well. Water proof to the max. I can swing that thing all day. What else did you want to know Cliff?Robbi at Cherry Grove ,SC
