A new hobby has quietly developed over the past few years. Small it was, at first, looked upon by most people as somewhat eccentric or even downright foolish, if they thought about it at all. The new hobbyists knew what they were doing, though, and profited in all sorts of ways from their hobby. Gradually increasing numbers of folks all across the country began to see the value of this strange new hobby. More and more people became interested. Treasure hunting was coming of age. Metal detectors were getting better, and more and more people were buying them. The coins, jewelry, and artifacts one could find with those instruments was absolutely fantastic! It was fun made profitable. Many and many a person not interested nor able to search most of his time for hidden caches, concealed loot, and buried treasure still began to see all sorts of reasons to own a metal detector anyway. It was a ticket to instant adventure. A single old coin on the weekend brightened the entire workweek coming up. The thought of the next weekend made less tedious the humdrum days.
