Small talk is well worth listening to when it comes to coinshooting, for often it is the feeble sounds, the little indications which indicate the better coins you'll find. The big brazen noises your detector makes most often speak of various junk, at or near the surface. True, that includes the clad tokens that pass as coinage these days. There's a good many small, random things to know about coinshooting, though, that remain unrecognized or unrealized at the fringes of the obvious. These paragraphs attempt to deal with such small talk, bringing together some rather unrelated ideas that nevertheless are important to each other. It's done with the hope it is not just trivia: if it helps, it won't be just small talk, after all. We'll whisper this,for it is the feeblest sounds to which a coinshooter must train himself to hear. The weak, the almost unperceived, the tiniest sounds are best. This is true no matter what sort of detector a person is using, for such signals indicate objects down at the lowest penetration capabilities of that detector. Discriminators, standard units, or the new mineralization-ignorers, they all say the sweetest things when they murmur the lowest. If you train your hearing and mind to pay the most attention to those lesser sounds, your recovery of older, deeper objects will improve.
