Gold Is Where You Find It

Napoleon once remarked, "History is a lie agreed upon". Perhaps he was referring to the recording of events being slanted to reflect what we refer to today as being "politically correct". Using this format the truth is usually sacrificed or substituted for a "spin" that provides a more desirable outcome rather than what the bare facts themselves would provide. Throughout recorded history historians have "locked horns" on when a particular date of an event occurred, who actually was there or where the event took place. This reflects on merely a few of the many arguable and challenging points. I am not a historian by any stretch of the imagination nor do I pretend to be. As an author I have attempted to compile data from various documented and trustworthy sources to address an issue that evolved around the once revered "State of Franklin". The purpose of this book is to solve the mystery of the missing treasury of the "Franklinites". To help in this regard I have relied on the research and published data by Mr. Paul Henson of Jeffersonville, Indiana (deceased). Mr. Henson spent a lifetime researching the whereabouts of lost treasure of all kinds, both large and small. He is recognized as one of the most respected leading authorities on compiled data of lost treasure in the U.S.A. and has published treasure data on all fifty states. A family story passed down by my great uncle Ray actually put the wheels in motion concerning the "gold coin mystery". Hester S's letter dated 1909 has proven to be a very important document. In the ensuing chapters I will attempt to show how these unusual set of events weave together to solve the puzzle of the lost treasury of the "State of Franklin"
