There are quite a few books of various sorts relating to the different aspects of the treasure hunting field. It is not the purpose of this book to view, review, and rehash what has already been well done. The KvM sixth edition and seventh edition are both available, and any serious THer would be wise to have both copies, for they go into all sorts of things a fellow should know if he is to be successful in this hobby field. Cubit and Lobo's TODAYS TREASURE HUNTER is another worthwhile book. A.T. Evan's has, at this writing, turned out three remarkable Treasure Hunters Yearbooks dealing with current facts and faces in the treasure hunting world. So why another book on treasure hunting? To put it bluntly I hope this is not just another book on treasure hunting. What I am trying to do with this effort is point out a few somewhat overlooked facets important to THers, perhaps get them to thinking about the overall pleasures, perils, and possibilities of the field, and attempt to not put anybody to sleep in the process. It is obvious to most of us who've been in this hobby for a while that many changes have come about in THing: Technological, competitive, political, legal, and other such changes are dramatic, and THers need to be aware of what has taken place and what is now taking place. So that's what this book is: An attempt to put some THing information into a somewhat detestable form, wrap it in "literary tinfoil" so that THers may detect items of importance to themselves, and present it to seekers of treasure at a price designed to not part them from too many of their coinshooting finds. The author will be well pleased if such a rather less than magical formula produces a palatable product.
