I have a Minelab Quattro which I have owned for about 3 years. It's a great MD and has incredible depth. A question - it tends to be a bit "chirpy" at times. I will be sweeping an area and then I get random chirps. I resweep the area where the chirp occurred and find nothing. I have played with sensitivity settings, reset to factory defaults, and have done numerous "noise cancellation" resets. I primarily metal detect in northern Ohio, where the soil is predominantly clay-based with sedimentary rock mixed in for good effect. Any thoughts on how to improve this?

CHIRPS

HELLO GLAD THAT YOU PICKED A MINLAB OUT OF THE BUNCH , IF YOU GOT IT FROM KELLYCO DETECTORS , AS I DID MY EXPLORER 2  , I WOULD SAY GIVE THEM A CALL AND TALK TO THE MINELAB PERSON AND THEY COULD TELL YOU ALL THE THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE YOUR UNIT DO WHATS ITS DOING , WHEN I GET A SLIGHT CHIRPING SOUND FROM MY EXPLORER 2  , I SLOW DOWN AND WORK IT , ONE MIGHT THINK THAT A COIN ON END , WITH THE WINDOW OF GETTING ANY RESPONCE MIGHT JUST BE A CHIRP , WORKING ANY REPEATABLE SOUND FROM ALL ANGLES WILL PRODUCE A BETTER SIGNAL . MINE LAB HAS ALWAYS SAID IF IT REPEATS THEN DIG , AND REALLY ITS ONLY A FEW INCHES DOWN MOSTLY ANYWAY ,  THE EXPLORER 2 HAS REACHED DOWN DEEP FOR ME 12-14 INCHES , YET THERE ARE THINGS THAT HAMPER AND ALSO ,  ADD TO THE RESULTS YOU GET . THE LIST IS LONG , I WOULD CALL KELLYCO DETECTORS ANYWAY EVEN IF I DIDN,T BUY IT THERE AND I,M SURE THEY WOULD BE GLAD TO HELP , GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR HUNTING ,   ED

Mystery chirps

Although I'm not a Quattro owner I have noticed at times some mystery beeps while swinging. I found that at the end of some of my swings I arc the coil upward slightly. Also if I make contact with some stubble, rock or wet grass it will sound out. When I keep the coil level and not hit anything on the swing I don't get the mystery beeps.
