So far I have been able to keep my losing streak intact with this Sweepstakes and the lottery. It is still alot of fun. Like metal detecting you never know what you will get.Keep Researching, and Searching one day it will happen for you.HHAmateur1

This contest is legit!!!!

My grandpa won a Garret pin pointer a couple years ago. He enters everyday every contest and that time it just happened to be him. It'll soon be me winning a detector hopefully.

Not sure

We can not be sure if this person is the actual winner. They may have picked this person to be the winner and it went to print before a conformation was made. Sometimes people do not answer their emails or they do not want the responsibility of paying the taxes. LT has not posted the winner here as of yet. Let's give them a chance to get a conformation. I'd be happy to take the winner's place!     H.H.     Al

What are the odds?

Of course it was South Dakota.   What would the odds be that I would have won, after Bruce from Worcester, the city next door, won the month before?Maybe this month?

Who are you? LT will not post it even though it has put in magazine. Mayby you have to buy a magazine to find out. I just want to know the state. The month is over half over and no posted winner. I have some free time maybe I could get me a job updating the web page. Happy hunting every one. It does seem kinda strange we see the past winners posted but never hear from any one of things they find with these new fine machines. Surely they are using them or just selling them and are not MD at all. I would wear the paint off of mine If I won one in a week. Post pictures of things I find by the dozen.Sandsifter

Alfu2u's picture

Once and for all...

I've suggested some ideas about how to stop the negative comments that are being directed at the LT contests. I do wonder why when I come to enter the contest, there are only a  few individuals who actually have headshots next to their comments and yet most of the contest winners, have headshots. Let's settle this question of whether or not the contests are ledgit or not, once and for all.If you've won one of these detectors that LT offers in their mothly contests, post some comments and/or photos of yourselves using your new machines. Show us what you all have found with them and defend LT from these negative comments. I've said this plenty of times, "If I win one of these detectors, you all will be quite sick of reading all of my posts on here! "  Where are all of these winners?Personally, I do believe that the contests are ledgitamate and I will continue to enter daily but to be perfectly honest, LT has not helped themselves much in this matter. No winner posted, contest entry errors and no comments from preveous winners all play to the negative attitudes of some of the contestants. If I were new to LT and decided to enter this contest and I began to read the comments that are posted, I would most likely not even bother to enter or not even come back to this site. This issue must be resolved once and for all! So, PLEASE WINNERS, POST SOMETHING!!!!!H.H. Al-Fu

I guess I dont get it, why

I guess I dont get it, why people go out of their way to post hatefull things to someone running a business. Just stop posting stuff, enter the contest, and maybe contribute some helpfull information about metal detecting. You might win, but if ya dont....dont waste your time making up conspiracy theories...and by the way...I have never had a problem entering this contest..it seems fair, and entries work for me everytime..maybe it woud help if you downloaded google chrome...it has a faster refresh rate, and seems to have better performance..it would probably help your dial up internet enter the 21st century....

They've TRIED various alternatives...

If they don't actively interrupt repeated entry attempts during the course of one day, they get slammed by "opportunists" knocking on their doors with floods of entries which have to be pruned. "during the course of one day" becomes the operative question, and the possible mechanisms for checking all the permutations of email addresses, phone numbers, USPS addresses, etc, becomes a "fragile" point for the stuff running on the servers. If they just go with IP address recognition, that will generally catch about 97% of the bums out there. As far as "one entry per month", you don't understand the bigger picture -- they WANT the daily traffic generated by daily entries; there are ads involved, and site usage metrics which feed into judgments about what to charge for those ads re "daily eyeballs". So "one entry per month" will be VERY unlikely to ever happen. I DO wonder why they don't pursue the "registration required for entry" path (AND use that as a prerequisite for posting comments, too!!) since that is what MANY many many sites do. But it IS their game, they're inviting us to play according to THEIR rules. Me, I enter on days when I can, move on (and come back later) on days when I can't. It's become a habit at this point, one I've built up over eight or nine years now.

Re Win Prizes Entry

I second that idea.   and it would cut down on the chatter, getting back to subjects of interest: treasure hunting

highfocus's picture

Win Prizes entry

There are a couple issues with the monthly sweeps:1) The first entry tried each day seems to be invalidated.  Users need to re-submit in order for the entry to be accepted.2) Why require someone to wait 24-hours before allowing another entry?  Why not just make it a daily entry and allow someone to enter once a day-- anytime of the day.  Requiring 24-hours minimum time to elapse between entries is an unnecessary burden for the contestant.  Alternatively, if it's an ongoing monthly sweepstakes-- why not just accept one entry per user per month?highfocus

Mattemil, welcome to the website. You're a member for just five days and somehow see fit to criticize someone who is wondering who the January winner is ?How about engaging in some common courtesy? Perhaps sarge would like to wish the winner congratulations and good luck with the md. Let's hope your follow up comments are more constructive to the forum and it's members.

I enter the contest every day

I enter the contest every day with no problems. ( Except for not winning yet ).I do not time entry to dead on 24 hour... just once a day.I recieve conformation email in seconds.I do not sign in and my browser is always clear of cookies and such... So I think my pc is not recognized as be here before?I would guess the people having trouble might change their  settings to fix the problem , clear cookies / history, or enter without sign in ??????This is just a guess, that maybe will  help.

Lost treasure web site.

Have tryed to enter the sweepstakes today 02-10-2012,  It has been over 24 hours, and I keep getting the message of (You can't enter at this time). I have a subscription to Lost Treasure as others do and it's not cheap. You would think the Lost Treasure web site could do a better job of keeping the web site in order. Iam thinking the money spent on the magazine, would be better spent on a metal detector as I do not have one yet.

Hi Roadcrew, that was a super story.  Looks like you both scored on that hunt.  She found a really good coin and a memory she will have forever, and you found  an activity and a hobby that you and she can enjoy while spending time together.  Way to go to both of you.  Good luck and good hunting.
