While I agree with most of

While I agree with most of what you said KEVTEC, including OBAMANESS It is unfair to lump together those that can " read and understand the field report" but answered wrong and those that just want the answer given to them or have NEVER posted on the forum.I read it and thought the answer was simple. The question asked..what was the new feature CALLED.Answer according to report is simple ..."new feature CALLED Ground Grab"If this is not the answer, then the question is deceptive. If they want a more indepth answer or an essay, then that should  be stated. And I agree the correct answer should be given AFTER the contest. If for no other reason, to correctly learn about new detectors.(oh and nice on the ALT F4- all are not computer illiterate or noobs)

KEVTEC's picture

answer

The short cut is after the fact, this contest is over, besides if I show them the shortcut maybe they can figure the answer out for themselves

Treasure Hunter's picture

I agree..

You know, I agree with you Kev, about laziness and entitlements soooo..why are you giving the answer?

KEVTEC's picture

ENTITLEMENT

This totally amazes me beyond comprehension, the bulk of the people too lazy to read the field report, or not able to understand it are not verified members. What this says is they pop in just to get a chance to WIN a detector and rarely contribute to the forums or discussions, yet alone post any pictures of finds. If you are going to be allowed to enter the contest at least have the comprehension and decency to be able to read and understand the field report. Don't get on the forum and whine and beg for the correct answer. Reason being is that if you don't understand the field report, how would you operate the machine by lack of reading ability?  Well I suppose if in fact you did win it, it would be totally acceptable to come back here and ask someone to show you how to figure out the machine since the field report is over your head, which leads the posters here to understand the manual would put you way out at the left field fence. This scenerio reminds me of the OBAMASS ENTITLEMENTS, Guy walks into a fast food restaurant and orders everything on the menu and tells the clerk that the guy behind him has to pay for his meal since he has the money. Correlation = EPIC FAIL!!By the way those that can't find the answers there is a glich in the website that allows you to go directly to the answer in the field test from the enter page. Hold down ALT key and hit F4, answer is right there in front of you.. No more secrets..

New month with last month's WinPrize question

The job of webmaster must be really nice to ge a vacation at the end of each month.  That's the only reason for the new month's WinPrizes still being the previous months.Your webmaster should be able to telecommute in and adjust or set up a script to run and make the change automatically....

lost treasures forums are different than any i've ever posted on. the others when you reply to someone's post it appears under that post. here you click on reply but your reply comes up at the top of the page. looks like i've either guessed wrong all month or some one was trying to pull our leg about the answer. it sure looked like the field test said ground grab.

adipocere's picture

The correct answer!

This is copied directly from the field test."In order to combat naturally occurring minerals in the soil, the Pro has a new feature called Ground Grab."The question as written above is: To combat naturally occurring minerals in the soil, the Gold Bug Pro has a new feature called what?
I copied that first sentence from the field test about half way through. If you go to the field test and hit Control - F and type in Ground Grab, it is the very first sentence where that appears. So the correct answer is Ground Grab.Sorry to all those that spent the month typing some of the other answers that are posted here.Happy Hunting!

mineral dismisser may be the function that it accomplishes but that is not the correct answer. that term is not even used in the field test or the ad above.

The correct answer is the "mineral dismisser"

Hope that helps.

charles boone's picture

you need to re-read ronda's comment. she wants to see the correct answer after the contest is over to make sure she had it right. sometimes the answer is very simple and sometimes uts a little more difficult.

kschae4's picture

Correct Answer

Hi Roy-  I'm going to disagree. Unlike some of those sad, earlier posts seeking answer assistance, I think Ronda just would like the final answer confirmed when the contest is over. HH

It sounds like Ronda wants some one to do the search and then entry for her.

Thanks Lost Treasure

I just wanted to say thanks to Lost Treasure!!  I also have been entering this contest for years and have not won.  But this is ok; at least for me.  I enjoy the reading the magazine and using this website so entering for a FREE detector every month is a bonus!!  Someone wins every month and someone gets to enjoy the hobby of metal detecting. The answer to the questions are sometimes too easy for me.  I think one should have to read the field test and figure out the answer; this is like a treasure hunt for me!!!So again, thanks to Lost Treasure and Carla Banning for being in the top spot and taking the nerve to make changes to the magazine.

adipocere's picture

Can't Wait!

I can't wait for next month's free detector! The Fisher Gold Bug sounds awesome, especially for those near the gold fields or old mining camps, but the Garrett AT pro sounds like it will be a more versatile all-around detector, and, honestly, I've been wanting a Garrett for a long time now! LOL My dream detector is the Garrett 2500 with the Depth multiplier 2 box coil so I can go searching for some of those caches I've been researching in and around Utah where I live. So another chance to win a Garrett will be awesome! Thank you to Lost Treasure and keep up the great work! Love the magazine and the old stories we can read on the website!

answer

being registered has nothing to do with the answer to the question. i'm registered but i rarely log-in. the info is available to all who come on the contest site. if they click on the field test link on the contest page the exact statement that the question contains is there with the answer. the answer is also in the ad at the top but it doesn't include the question. however it does help once you find the answer in the field test you can just look at the ad if you forget the exact answer.

Here's your answer Submitted by Treasure Hunter (not verified)

Looking back through most of the posts it seems rather strange that the bulk of people not being able to read are what is described in this subject line (Submitted by Treasure Hunter (not verified). Why not register as a member and besides it's FREE like the detector giveaway and you don't even have to answer any hard questions to register other than a few basic ~ º ¿ º ~. If you were to read some of the posts instead of just bouncing on to try to win a machine you will in fact see that 95% of the registered users didn't find it difficult to find the answer. BTW I don't remember anyone winning one of the detectors recently that wasn't registered on the site. You can do as you like, enter as many times as you like, and since you profess to pull your own weight, which is a good thing, try reading and understanding like everyone else has to do, that would be considered pulling your own weight if in fact you were a registered member on here!!!

Answer

Geez!  I didn't know asking the question would throw you guys into such a forum!  I've entered this before and this time found it difficult -- asking for a little assistance -- no entitlements. As a single parent, I pull my own weight very well, thank you!

KEVTEC's picture

I agree with kschae4, for

I agree with kschae4, for those that are looking for one word to answer the question which is insulting to say the least, learn to read and comprehend. If you cannot find the answer to the question this tells everyone a couple of things.   A. If you cannot find the answer in the field report, most likely you will never be able to use the detector, since the instructions are more difficult than the field report.  B. As sad as it may seem I can't believe Todd actually gave directions even giving the line the answer was in for those that wouldn't search for the answer, or couldn't comprehend what they were reading.  C. Finally, most that are crying that they can't find the answers are those that aren't registered members, or ones that have posted as a member and were always asking for a deal on items for sale because of income status. Sounds so of like our present administration, can anyone say ENTITLEMENT!! My personal opinion for what it's worth should be that to enter the contest you must subscribe either digitally or by receiving the magazine via snail mail.

For those having difficulty finding the Field Test and you ....

cannot be serious..  I apologize in advance, knowing that I'm going to catch grief for writing this..but seriously, if you can't find(or won't read) the answer in the field test, how are you going to do research to locate perspective sites and improve your skills ? Todd's given detailed, easy steps to follow after others have offered advice, too. What's next, completing and submitting your entry form ?

ToddB64's picture

Re: Submitted by Treasure Hunter on Wed, 01/12/2011 - 11:37am

For those having difficulty finding the Field Test and the answer , suggest you print this, then just follow the three steps......#1..Move your cursor onto  NEWS & ARTICLES  (black button at top of page) and this will trigger a drop-down list of options.  Scroll down the drop-down list and click-on "Field Test". This brings up a page titled "Metal Detector and Metal Detecting Accessory Field Test Reports"......#2..Scroll down to "Fisher Research Laboratory", then scroll through the detector models until you find "Fisher Gold Bug Pro" and click-on that model......#3..Count down to text-line #72 in the field test report ; that's where the answer was today. Previously, it was at line #67 and that's what I posted earlier, but for some strange reason it changed !  I'll just say, I tried to make it easy, but you might have to read the entire report to find the answer. Try line #72 and see......Todd

Looking for answer

If you subscribe to LT magazine, look on page 24 of the Feb 2011 edition, right hand column  2nd full paragraph.  The answer is there.   Otherwise in the field test, it is about half way thru where it is describing features. (  Look for initials "G  G"  )  Sometimes its hard to see the forest for the trees. I had the same problem. Good luck, good hunting.
