I used to live in CST. I don't remember the hours being any shorter or longer. 24 hours is 24 hours, regardless of the timezone.

Am I doing something wrong?

I've been entering the drawing on a daily basis and it's been allowing me to enter twice.  I've been entering twice because I'm afraid that the first entry is not being received correctly and according to the system constraints/rules, it should not allow me to entry twice within a 24 hour period.  Am I disqualifying myself by doing this?

brucefon's picture

Re: 24 hours

I thought the problem was fixed.  I used to log in 'daily'  and if it was less tha 24 hours since the last entry it would give an error. No errors anymore so I assumed it was Once per day, not Daily. If not, the error isn't telling me I can't enter so I have no idea how many valid entries I have this month.

Re: 24 hours?

The 24 hour period is based on CST.

ultralightpilot's picture

24 hours?

I need some clarification concerning the 24 hour limit on entries.  Would the limit rule mean midnight to midnight Oklahoma (Central) time or 24 hours and one minute from your last entry?  I have been assuming the later and haven't received an error message, though I am not sure I would get a message if I entered at an invalid time.

To ADIPOCERE

Your right.  I'd forgot about that giveaway.  Just trying to get LT to give a couple more away before summer time or I'll have to get a second job and buy one myself.   Would be much  better to win one.  Getting to old to work two jobs.  Happy hunting..

To SREIGEL:

They did recently give away the Excalibur II. Check in the list of previous winners and you'll see:Last Chance Sweepstakes: 2011: Randall Mcklin of Saint Mary, MO winner of the Excalibur II metal detector from Minelab USA.I love the possibility of getting any detector but one as cool as the Excalibur II or one of these Garretts gets my mind racing about all the great places I have yet to hunt.

it should be for subscripers (only)

i enjoy reading this magazine, and over the years i'v spent a lot of money for products and scriptions to lost treasures magazine, i now know that some of it was worth it,and some not. i feel that the give away was a way for the magazine to say thank you for your money. when they don't have to.i just know that i could have taken that money and spent it on a (new)metal detector,an eazy $800 plus but that would not have been fun for me,like i said this magazine is full of great stuff to read, its like looking for that big find so now i hope to win this one,its free to enter for everyone.so please stop crying when you don't win.dont forget its free so enjoy it while it last? good luck to everyone who enjoys this hobby.

re: "Yawn"...

May as well assume this is our "challenged" buddy -- who realizes saying anything more will reveal him for who he is. So a slightly-snide disparaging 'yawn' is essaying new heights of restraint and discretion. Unfortunately, a meaning-full comment it isn't. Moving on...

A new place for the contest winners.

An excellent idea.  I post my finds on another forum all the time and usually try to give some info on my machine settings & discrimination pattern, how the target hit, what depth they were, etc.  It's just a fun thing to do and it helps out the other treasure hunters out there.  The winners could provide the same type of information along with pictures of their finds. I'm assuming the purpose of your giveaways is to promote the MD brands that LT is associated with and to bring users to your site to sell and promote your own products.  If I felt that your giveaways were not legit, I would not buy your products, nor subscribe to your magazine.  Reading through the history of various posts, there is some compelling information that could lead people to believe that the giveaways are rigged.  I personally do not believe this, however, not seeing ANY posts from previous winners just adds fuel to the fire.  People do not need to be convinced that the giveaways are rigged to leave.  Just the possibility could result in you to losing more subscribers than gaining.  Just the thoughts of a loyal subscriber and a daily giveaway user.

A new place for the contest winners.

To the Lost Treasure Webmaster,   I have a suggestion to help put an end to individuals who do not believe that the monthly contests are legitimate. Create a new Forum Topic where the monthly winners can show off their finds that they've made with their new machines. I know once I win one of these detectors, I'll be using it very often. I'll have plenty to say and show. It would be nice to have a place to do so on this site aside from the LT Tube.To all previous winners,  Start posting everything that you can about your new machines that you've won from Lost Treasure. The site will need your content to help create the new area just for you winners out there. It will help to legitimize the contests and help put an end to the non believers once and for all.H.H.Al-Fu

Prizes

It would be great to see a nice beach/diving MD offered in the drawing.  Say something like a Fisher CZ21 or a Minelab Execalibur ll.  Now that would be a NICE giveaway!!!  How about it LT?

prizes

Sounds like a great idea , they could give out books, shirts, hats, even some samples they get for testing from the manufactures.

prizes

It would be nice if the magzine offer smaller prizes like books and other stuff, since there must be over 100,000 entries every month for one prize and only 12 prizes every year.  It is much easty now then in the past to enter the monthly contests and I am happy for the winners.  I live in Connecticut and been interesting in treasure hunting since 1964 and enjoy reading stories about bury treasures in my state. Best fo luck to all of you.

Your coins

The "coins" are basically store credit, but they also affect the badges people get. You get "One Scoop" for having 1 or more points and then get more scoops according to how many points you accumulate. Currently you can work up to 5 Scoops by getting 300 or more points. You get points by participating on the site through things like posting comments, creating forum topics, adding a picture to your profile page or just browsing pages and products. The points can also be exchanged as cash to purchase products on the site. Each coin is the equivalent of $0.01 (1 cent). The coins can be used to purchase products when you amass enough to cover the price of an item. For example, at 295 coins you could get a free digital archive (regularly $2.95). The coins expire exactly 365 days after they are earned if not spent and may not be used as partial payment. To use the coins on a product you must have enough coins to cover the entire purchase price.

Apparently  LT has been working on the problem of people using this web site as a bad lnfulence a long time  because  the people who want to use this site to learn and enjoy don't want him.  I've been on here for over a yr and the poblem is  still hear. They are going to have to  work a little harder to get this problem solved looks like. If I owned the company I would not put up with bad info from anyone. Maybe a bunch of us needs to call the owner and complain. Surley the incorrect info he is putting out is not promoting nothing to the company. Slander would be my first choice with a lawyer.  Other wise just block his replys. No problem. Why do they keep  letting it go on is beyond me. There may be a lot  putting info on here that is good. and not members. Most sites for almost any thing you get on wants your info. This guy must have had a bad life of letdowns and mistakes to have this type of attitude and he is looking for some place to air his angry thoughts to so he found this one. He needs the lord. Sandsifter

Alfu2u's picture

My solution

Ok, I'm here daily and before I submit my entry for the day, I always read the comments. Personally, I don't care if this Treasure Hunter wants to post his or her theories or grievances. It's entertaining to me. Besides, even if there were to be a slight possabliity of what he/she was saying is correct, I'd want to be made aware of it. Wouldn't anyone who enters any type of contest want to know if their chances of actually winning are much less than it was thought to be? In his/her defense, (which he/she may or may not deserve) I will have to add this; If I were to win one of these detectors, you all would be so sick of reading my comments and seeing all the pictures and videos of me and my finds that I'd been making with my new detector, you all would ask for my removal from the site! Every time that you came here, there I'd be with a new something that I had found. Now, ask yourself this, why hasn't any of the previous winners done something like this yet? And, if they have. point out where on this site we can see them. Out of all of the winners, no one posts a simple pic of what they've found with thier new machines. I've seen some thank you comments but that's it.    I appreciate the oportunity to enter a free contest for a chance to win something that I obviously would want or at least have an interest in. Why else would I be coming to a treasure hunting site if I didn't like treasure? The contests keep us coming back and everytime we do come back, they have another opportunity to sell us something else and that's fine. It's a sound marketing tactic that works very well. I'm sure that the contests are ledgitamate. The magazine would be gone by now if they were pulling that kind of stuff. A little whistle blower wanna be like this Treasure Hunter person, needs to get his/her proof in order and get it to the national media. The facts are the facts and anyone who enters should be aware of them. Until I see Lost Treasure Magazine in trouble with the media, I'll keep entering.  H.H. Al-Fu

~ º ¿ º ~

I hear what you are saying Carly, but to achieve the object of the topic isn't a difficult task at all. Actually it's a simple procedure to make a site have a user name and password.

cnielsen's picture

In the works

We are still working on making the forums open to only those that register and have a user's name. Trust me...we do not want those kinds of posts for any reason.

KEVTEC's picture

Rigged Drawing

OK, As I stated once before, post your alleged findings of the proverbial drawing. If in fact you are correct with your lore then post your proof and that would solve the problem. As far as the magazine is concerned the readers were told that they were either going to make it impossible for non- registered posters to post and would block his ISP. What I see is neither side is producing anything. Makes me wonder if the possibility of the magazine allows this posting of the unverified treasure hunter is a ploy to get hits and postings on here. Other than that it's difficult to understand as to why the staff would allow this type of posting on their site. Something to ponder for sure.

flared0ne's picture

Sad...

"Problem" with his meds, apparently (hypothesizing here) -- he's been wrapping aluminum foil around them and throwing them out into the backyard to "hunt" for them -- except the metal detector he carved out of a stick just doesn't WORK. We need to figure out how to let his mommy know to take away his keyboard.

Connecticut Sam's picture

Rigging of contest

I do not believe that there is rigging of this contest.   There must be thousands of people every monthy who enter this contest which I been doing for many years.  We do not even have to pay for stamps to enter.  Best of  luck to Everybody.

kschae4's picture

treasure hunter needs to get a life

Exactly..or just disappear. What contest rigging? "Sybil" must be geographically challenged as the last 10 winners were in various parts (except west coast, southwest ).  Can't wait for tighter registration guidelines to be effected.

davidlhyde63366's picture

treasure hunter needs to get a life

i `ll be glad when non regestered users can no longer post on here.   You are not even required to buy the magazine to use this site it is Free paid for by thoses of us that do subscribe to the magazine .Feel free to use the site and read the articles and be happy they are offering a free drawing each month that they are under no obligation to have  .If  you think this is rigged you must really think the state lotteries are rigged because you are not winning them either.

Re-Good luck

I feel the same way,for one, she can get the exersise she needs, and two,we'd have twice the chance of finding that elusive treasure...I did find my first mercury dime two days before New Year, but it was a little too worn out to get a date,it was still kinda exiting...Good luck and Happy New Year  Treasure Hunters!!!

"Treasure Hunter"

He's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And with all of his multiple personalities. "there are hundreds of us". We are so lucky that those "hundreds of us" have only one computer, or we would be buried in 'forum troll' and 'it's rigged' comments. Maybe we could take up a collection so 'they' have enough money for the much needed meds. But then we wouldn't know where to send it since 'they' haven't been able to figure out which name to use. To all of the real Treasure Hunters", good hunting.

Tip of the day...

"what does the tip of the day have to do with the detector giveaway." I come here every day to enter this contest. But FIRST I read the tip of the day. Have YOU seen any thread associated with "the tip of the day"? I haven't. And I'm not particularly concerned about going looking for one, about FINDING one, or about starting a new topic somewhere that nobody is LOOKING for one. "we need to keep the subject of our comments under the subject we're discussing or start a new topic." Happily, I don't think so. Thanks for the opinion, though...
