• Once you have downloaded and installed the mIRC Chat Client, follow the bellow instruction to set it up for use with the Lost Treasure OnLine Live Chat:

When you open the program, it will automatically bring up a little window with a picture of a guy in the top right corner. This window will invite you to visit the www.mirc.com website. If you just click on the X in the top right corner of the window, it will go away.

Once you do this, the mIRC program will open a window automatically called mIRC Options. It will look like this:

If for some reason it does not automatically open the mIRC Options window, your screen will look like this, and you will need to click on the little folder with the hammer near the upper left corner to access the mIRC Options window.

Click on the "Add" button in the upper right corner of this window. This will open the "mIRC Add Server" window which looks like this:

In the mIRC Add Server window, fill in the following fields with this information:

• Description: Lost Treasure
• IRC Server: irc.webmaster.com
• Port(s): 6667
• Group: #treasurehunting

Once you have done this, you can click on the "Add" Button. This will return you to the "mIRC Options" screen, but you will notice that a few of the fields there have changed.

In the mIRC Options window, put something in the Full Name field*, put something in the Email Address field*, and enter a Nickname and Alternative Nickname, and then click "OK".

You should now be looking at a blank mIRC window. The command bar is located across the top of your screen, and looks like this:

You should now locate the lightning bolt near the left hand side of the command bar, and click on it.

This will connect you to the server and open the "mIRC Channels Folder" which looks like this:

Click on the "Add" button, and you will be presented with the mIRC Add Channel window.

Fill in the following fields:

• Channel: #treasurehunting
• Password: (leave blank)
• Description: Lost Treasure OnLine Live Chat
• Network: (do not change)
• Check the box next to Auto-Join Channel on Connect

Make sure that #treasurehunting is highlited, and click "Join". This will connect you to the Lost Treasure OnLine Live Chat room which looks like this

The largest space in this window located on the top and left sides is where you will receive channel messages, and the text that flows through the room. The scrolling list on the right is a list of all users in the room. The small empty bar that runs across the entire bottom of the screen is where you type in the messages you want to post.

Congradulations! You are now chatting through the mIRC Chat Client on Lost Treasure OnLine Live Chat! For a few hints and tips on using mIRC, read on.

Below are a few tips to using mIRC, and getting you up to speed on using it to it's full potential.

A Few Chat Basics:
• NEVER USE ALL CAPS UNLESS YOU ARE INTENDING TO SCREAM!
• LOL means Laugh Out Loud
• BRB or BRBK mean Be Right Back
• :) is just one of many forms of smilé

Some More Advanced and Useful Stuff:
• If any user is annoying you, instead of arguing with them or making comments about them, just highlight their name in the user list, right click, select Contro, and Ignore. This will prevent anything this persons says from showing up on your screen. Handy for filtering out obnoxious and filthy mouthed users.
• If any user is being abusive to you or other persons continually, and you wish to make a complaint, highlight thier name in the user list, right click, select UCentral. This will open up a window with the users information in it. Click on the "Copy All" button, and then paste that information in an email and send it to and the issue will be looked into.
• If you wish to open up a private conversation with a user, just double click on the users name in the user list. A seperate window will open that connnects you directly with the other user for private converstaion. You will be able to switch back and forth between the private conversation and the main chat window by clicking on the tabs just below the command bar. There isn't really any limit to the number of windows and conversations you can run, except the number that you can maintain.
