This is the condensed version of the story of a lost silver mine in West Virginia, giving the essential facts and directions. The complete story of the mine can be found in the very rare book, "Border Settlers of Northwestern Virginia," by Lucullus V. McWhorter.

The book was printed in 1915. I have researched this and can learn of no one who has searched for this mine in the last 70 or 80 years.

About Indian Camp on Indian Camp Run, writes McWhorter, there is an interesting tradition of a lost silver mine and a fabulous buried treasure of silver. The mine's origin predates the Revolution, with some apparent foundation in truth. The mine was worked by a party of Spanish and English adventurers who were nearly exterminated by their Indian allies.
